Who we are and where we stand

The Party of Nature is the international branch of Italy's Partito della Natura.

We aim to open a Party of Nature in every country, to ban fossil fuels, animal agriculture, hunting, fishing, and all highly polluting and destructive human activities. We promote sustainable degrowth, rewilding, human rights, democracy, education, and science.

If you would like to open a Party of Nature in your country, email us. We are seeking to mobilize concerned citizens worldwide, and to provide them with the support they need to run for office.

We strongly believe in the potential for democratic renewal and greater inclusiveness. We moreover maintain that all governments have a responsibility to defend the right to life of all animal and plant species, especially those at risk of extinction, and to offer a healthy and equitable world for future generations. We are also committed to promoting democracy and human rights throughout the world.

The Party of Nature bases all of its policy positions on scientific research and opposition to all forms of discrimination and oppression, including forms of discrimination based on gender and sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, disability or species.

The Party of Nature aims to promote:

  • Truly sustainable and equitable socioeconomic systems, based on renewable energy, plant-based food systems, and respect for fundamental civil and political rights.

  • Laws aimed at abolishing the consumption of fossil fuels, as rapidly as possible, as they constitute the main cause of climate change.

  • Legal action against all highly polluting multinational corporations, to end their abuses and secure massive financial reparations, which will be employed to pursue a great transition towards true sustainability.

  • Generous public subsidies to promote a rapid and complete transition to renewable energies and electric or green-hydrogen fueled transportation.

  • Laws aimed at abolishing all forms of animal farming, as well as hunting and fishing, as these are the main causes of the destruction of natural ecosystems and biodiversity loss.

  • A rapid transition to plant-based diets, for everyone, to promote people's health, animal rights, and the environmental sustainability of global food systems.

  • Laws aimed at abolishing all highly polluting and unsustainable industries, and at reducing or totally eliminating the use of herbicides, pesticides and other products that are harmful to people and other living beings.

  • A large-scale rewilding policy, to reconstitute (as far as possible) the natural ecosystems that humans destroyed over the last two centuries.

  • The pursuit of scientific and technological innovation and academic excellence, in accordance with the respect for the fundamental rights of all species.

  • The development of fairer and truly sustainable terms of trade, and the emergence of circular economies.

The Party of Nature strongly believes in and stands for:

  • The diversity and the intellectual contributions of Indigenous peoples and other communities committed to truly sustainable living.

  • The unconditional defense of democracy and human rights, all over the world, particularly in the face of challenges from authoritarian leaders and governments and powerful multinational corporations.
